Ionic liquids as background electrolyte additives and coating materials in capillary electrophoresis

چکیده
Now that many scientific investigations focus on ionic liquids (IL) to establish their potential in different chemical processes, their application for the separation of various classes of compounds in capillary electrophoresis has also been recognized. ILs have been used as background electrolytes in aqueous and non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis for the separation of a number of different analyte types providing both control of the electroosmotic flow and the charging of analytes. Besides this ILs are used as micelle-forming compounds and capillary wall modifiers, as well as separation media additives in NACE for contactless conductivity detection.

Capillary Electrophoresis as Analysis Technique for Battery Electrolytes: (i) Monitoring Stability of Anions in Ionic Liquids and (ii) Determination of Organophosphate-Based Decomposition Products in LiPF6-Based Lithium Ion Battery Electrolytes
In this work, a method for capillary electrophoresis (CE) hyphenated to a high-resolution mass spectrometer was presented for monitoring the stability of anions in ionic liquids (ILs) and in commonly used lithium ion battery (LIB) electrolytes. The investigated ILs were 1-methyl-1-propylpyrrolidinium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (PYR13TFSI) and 1-methyl-1-propylpyrrolidinium bis(fluorosul...
متن کاملIonic liquids as modifiers to improve the separation efficiency of nonaqueous capillary electrophoresis with high electric field strengths.
A method of nonaqueous capillary electrophoresis based on ionic liquids was developed with a high electric field (800 V/cm). The ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate was used as modifier to improve the separation efficiency; trishydroxymethylaminomethane and sodium cholate were used as background electrolytes in methanol and acetonitrile. The ionic liquids used in this pap...
متن کاملSystem peaks and disturbances to the baseline UV signal in capillary zone electrophoresis
Non-steady-state processes in capillary electrophoresis can be estimated by applying a steady-state mathematical model. Calculations with a steady-state model indicate that in capillary electrophoresis, moving boundary zones can originate from discontinuities in the concentration of the co-ions and/or the pH of the background electrolyte. Calculations showed that cationic moving boundaries with...
متن کاملDevelopments in electrode materials and electrolytes for aluminiumeair batteries
Aluminiumeair cells are high-energy density (<400 W h kg 1) primary batteries developed in the 1960s. This review shows the influence of the materials, including: aluminium alloy, oxygen reduction catalyst and electrolyte type, in the battery performance. Two issues are considered: (a) the parasitic corrosion of aluminium at open-circuit potential and under discharge, due to the reduction of wa...

Recently, ionic liquids (ILs) have gained in popularity as unique solvents in different areas of separation techniques. Owing to tunable properties which can be selected by choosing appropriate cationic or anionic constituents, they can be applied in chromatographic and electro-chromatographic methods as mobile phase or stationary phase modifiers or in sample preparations processes as new extra...
